When Hungarians think of Szeged
(population more than 170.000) three local products usually spring
into their mind: the tasty Szeged salami, the highly seasonably
Szeged fisherman's soup, and the brightly decorated slippers manufactured
                here.
These are as down-to-earth as many claims to fame, yet Szeged
is a cultural center as well. Because of its two universities,
the atmosphere is uncommonly cheery and youthful.
